Have you been feeling stumped about your play recently? Feel like you're trying to make the correct moves but it's not working out? Maybe you just need some guidance from a professional!
Join us for our WRPM Group Coaching held every other Tuesday from 6:30-8:30pm at Sparrow's Nest Studio. These sessions are intended to help players in their mahjong journey when they reach the difficult stage of trying to become a better player. If you find yourself wondering what could I have done better in this hand or how can I avoid dealing in so often, these coaching sessions are for you! During each session, our local seasoned pro Erik Karhan Ⓟ will help address questions for up to four (4) attendees. Topics can include efficiency, etiquette, push/fold mechanics, and other tips on how to improve. Your session may include online log review, real time game feedback from your pro, or other forms of discussion.
We encourage players at all levels to consider group coaching, but please be aware that these sessions will be most helpful if you already have a good grasp of game basics such as broadly knowing different types of yaku and how to utilize them to build value. Knowing how to score is not necessary, though it is highly encouraged.
About Erik Karhan Ⓟ: Erik began playing mahjong in 2019, and helped found Riichi Nomi of New York City, American's largest Riichi club. A fan of tile handling techniques, he has encouraged and developed the mahjong scene by teaching at many events across the east coast. As a professional, Erik has assisted in developing the WRPM exams which test pro knowledge, as well as participating in coaching to boost player skills to higher levels. He is the winner of Riichi Nomi Open 2026, the largest riichi tournament in North America, beating out 255 other competitors to claim the top spot. Erik’s goal as a professional is to unite the professional players of the world and raise the standards for competitive play.
